Kabul sent a new diplomatic envoy to Ashgabat and promised to start TAPI in the spring

The Afghan Foreign Ministry introduced Fazal Mohammad Sabir as Afghan Charge d'Affaires in Ashgabat. According to TOLOnews, the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Afghan diplomats.

Kabul officials called the introduction of a new acting head of the Afghan embassy in Ashgabat a step towards expanding diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

Meanwhile, on March 18, the Afghan Foreign Ministry once again made a statement on TAPI, saying that negotiations on the technical issues of the gas pipeline project had been held, and the project would resume in the spring.

“We hope to immediately reach the exact date for the restart of the TAPI gas pipeline project in the spring. We hope that work will soon resume on other projects along with TAPI,” said Shafi Azam, a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
