1.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be sent from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan via Iran. According to Azerbaijani media, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji said this on the first day of the conference within the framework of the Baku Energy Forum.
According to him, these supplies are carried out on the basis of a trilateral agreement signed between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan.
The media note that since January 3, 2022, supplies of 4.5 million cubic meters of gas per day have begun within the framework of the gas exchange of Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan. Iran receives Turkmen gas in the east of the country and supplies it to Azerbaijan in the northeast of Iran.
The gas exchange agreement between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan was signed on November 28, 2021 in Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan is one of the largest suppliers of natural gas in the Asian region. In particular, Ashgabat is a leader in the supply of pipeline gas to the Chinese market.
