Çalik Enerji will build the first solar-wind power plant in Turkmenistan

Turkish company Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. won a tender for the construction of the first hybrid solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW in Turkmenistan. Deputy Prime Minister Charymurat Purchekov, who is in charge of energy in the government, announced this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, the official Turkmen press writes today. Çalik Enerji will build a facility with full readiness for operation on the territory of the Serdar district of the Balkan region. Environmentally friendly electricity from the station will provide electricity to consumers in the settlements that will appear around the largest artificial lake in the region, Altyn Asyr.

The project, unique for the country, will allow: – to increase the capacity of the electric power industry, – to prepare national personnel in a new profile, – to create new jobs, – to contribute to strengthening the environmental well-being of the region. The project of the innovative facility was developed by the research and production center of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan. Funds for the construction of the facility were allocated by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund under a loan agreement concluded for a period of up to 15 years with a grace period of 3 years at 4% per annum.
